Reputon Amazon Importer Review: When It Works for Dropshipping or Affiliate
Honest review of Reputon Amazon Importer (4.9★ with 537 reviews). How it imports Amazon products to Shopify, for manual dropshipping or Amazon Associates. Pricing and limitations.
Reputon Amazon Importer (4.9★ with 537 reviews) imports products from Amazon to your Shopify for two different models: manual dropshipping or Amazon affiliate. The key difference: it does NOT do automatic fulfillment. You remain responsible for processing orders. The app brings variants, images and prices. You handle the operations. This review covers when each model fits and why some users report frustration with the automatic price-sync feature.
I don't run this app directly in production. My model isn't dropshipping or Amazon affiliate. The review consolidates spec analysis, reading of 50+ App Store reviews, and comparison with alternatives. If you're making a decision based on this, validate with someone running Amazon dropshipping directly.
First thing: two possible models, not one
Reputon Amazon Importer lets you do two different things with the same app. The common confusion is mixing them:
Model 1 — Manual dropshipping from Amazon: you import a product from Amazon, sell it on your Shopify at a margin, and when someone buys, you buy the product on Amazon for that order and ship it (or send it directly to your customer from Amazon Prime).
Problems: requires manual fulfillment (not automatic), Amazon Prime doesn't allow direct reselling in many cases, Amazon's terms are ambiguous about this.
Model 2 — Amazon affiliate (Amazon Associates): you import products from Amazon to your Shopify but DON'T sell them. The "Buy" button redirects to the product on Amazon with your affiliate link. When the customer buys on Amazon, you earn commission (typically 1-8% by category).
This is legitimate, no legal risk, and requires no fulfillment.
Both models use the same app but the operational logic and business are completely different.
How it works
Three flows cover typical use:
1. 1-click import
You paste Amazon product URL, the app imports: title, description, images, variants (size/color), reviews, rating. Arrives at your Shopify as editable product.
2. Bulk import (on paid plans)
You paste multiple URLs or select by Amazon seller. The app imports in batch.
3. Automatic price sync (only on Advanced plan $19.99)
The app monitors prices on Amazon and updates your Shopify when they change. This is the most-reported problematic feature (below).
Pricing
| Plan | Price | Imports/month | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 20 | Limit 5 imports/hour |
| Lite | $4.99 | 100 | No hourly limit + affiliate button |
| Standard | $9.99 | 300 | + bulk import |
| Advanced | $19.99 | 1,000 + $0.02/extra | + auto price and stock sync |
Free plan viable to validate concept. Standard is the sweet spot for serious operation.
Which model is it better for
Amazon affiliate model
Reputon Amazon Importer is excellent for this case:
- Import 100-500 Amazon products in an afternoon
- Configure affiliate button with your Associates ID
- Your Shopify works as a curated showcase of Amazon products
- When customer clicks "Buy", goes to Amazon with your link
- You earn 1-8% per sale without touching logistics
Advantages vs pure dropshipping: no inventory risk, no fulfillment, no customer service about shipping.
Disadvantages: lower margin (1-8% vs 30-50% well-done dropshipping). Model scales with volume, not with ticket.
Manual dropshipping model
Reputon is functional but risky for this case:
- Import Amazon products to your Shopify
- Sell to your customers with your own margin
- When someone buys, you buy on Amazon and ship
- Requires manual stock, price, availability monitoring
Operational problems:
-
Amazon explicitly prohibits reselling Prime products without seller permission. If you resell products you don't manufacture, you may be violating the original seller's terms.
-
No automatic fulfillment: each order you process manually. It's not auto-shipping from Amazon.
-
Surprising price sync: a public review from March 2026 reports that the app syncs prices from Amazon automatically, overwriting manual changes the operator made. If you want to control price on your Shopify independent of Amazon, this annoys you.
What it does well
- Fast setup: 5-10 minutes to import first product
- Imports complete variants: size, color, all product options from Amazon
- Viable free tier: 20 imports/month is enough to validate concept
- Cheap Lite plan ($4.99): if you want to scale to 100 products, cheap plan
- Built for Shopify badge: passed technical verification
What hurts
1. Auto price sync hard to disable
As mentioned in the March 2026 review: when you lower price manually, the app raises it back to Amazon's price. There's no clear option to disable the sync. Reputon responded that they reach out to the user but the problem persists.
2. Dropshipping model can violate Amazon terms
If you sell products from other Amazon sellers as your own, you may have legal or account issues. Reputon isn't responsible for that — you are. Validate terms before scaling.
3. No automatic fulfillment
The app description says it clearly: "You must manage shipping and orders yourself. There is no automatic fulfillment." If you expected auto-shipping, this isn't the app.
4. Mixed reviews on support
Some users praise support. Others report that on price-sync issues, responses are evasive. Mixed signal.
Alternatives to evaluate
Spocket: dropshipping with automatic fulfillment from European/US suppliers. More expensive ($30-100/month) but auto-shipping solves problem #3 above.
Modalyst: similar to Spocket, focus on premium / sustainability brand products.
CJ Dropshipping: dropshipping from China with fulfillment, cheaper but long shipping times.
Amazon Associates direct: if your model is affiliate only, you can use standard Amazon Associates Shopify plugin without Reputon. Fewer features but more control.
When YES to use Reputon Amazon Importer
- Your model is pure Amazon affiliate (not dropshipping)
- You want to build a curated showcase of Amazon products in a themed landing
- You have an audience that prefers buying on Amazon (trust, Prime, easy returns) and you're the curator
- Value you charge for selection + recommendations, not for product margin
When NO
- Your model is serious dropshipping: use Spocket / Modalyst / CJ with automatic fulfillment
- You want total price control on your Shopify: the auto-sync bothers you
- You sell products with brand restrictions on Amazon
- You need high margin (over 15%) per sale: affiliate pays 1-8%, model doesn't scale that way
Verdict
For Amazon affiliates: the app is excellent. $4.99/month Lite is no-brainer if you'll scale to 100+ products.
For pure dropshipping: use something else. Spocket or Modalyst with automatic fulfillment save you the terms violations + manual order handling.
To validate concept fast: free plan ($0) gives you 20 imports to experiment with the model before committing.
What I do NOT recommend: using it as dropshipping with auto-sync activated. The March 2026 user complaint about overwritten price is real. If you're going to dropship, disable sync or use the plan without sync.
Install Reputon Amazon Importer on free plan to validate first. If it fits, scale to paid plan.
Frequently asked questions
Is dropshipping from Amazon with this app legal?
Gray area. The app is legal, but using it to resell Amazon products without the original seller's permission may violate Amazon terms. If you sell generic unbranded products, less risk. If you sell branded products with copyright, high risk. Consult a lawyer if you're serious.
Does bulk import also bring product reviews?
Not directly. If you want to display Amazon reviews on your Shopify, you need a separate app: Amazon Reviews App (Free). The two are separate Reputon apps — not integrated with each other.
How do I configure the affiliate button?
In the app settings, you add your Amazon Associates ID. When someone clicks the button on an imported product, the URL includes your affiliate tag and Amazon attributes the sale if they buy within 24 hours (Amazon's cookie window).
Is the Advanced plan ($19.99) worth it if I'm just starting?
No. Free or Lite plan is enough to validate the model in the first 3 months. Advanced makes sense once you've validated that your model works and need auto-sync + 1,000 imports/month.
Can the app import Amazon-restricted products?
No. Categories like medications, restricted electronics, products with strong copyright will fail to import or appear with partial info. Applicable for generalist products.
What happens if Amazon changes its API or terms?
The app can stop working temporarily. It's a model risk — Reputon depends on scraping/API that Amazon controls. Not a blocker but worth keeping in mind before basing the whole model on this.
